Razer has acquired the assets used to operate StreamElements, bringing one of streaming’s most widely used tool platforms under the Razer brand. The acquisition was announced on July 31, 2026, with the new ownership structure taking effect on August 1. For streamers who depend on StreamElements for alerts, overlays, chatbots, tips, sponsorships, and other channel tools, the main message is simple: the platform is staying online.

Razer purchased substantially all assets used to run StreamElements from Live Momentum Ltd., the company that previously held the business. Those assets include StreamElements’ intellectual property, platform data, technical knowledge, and business records. Razer did not purchase Live Momentum Ltd. itself, making this an asset acquisition rather than a full purchase of the former holding company.

StreamElements Is Not Shutting Down

For most streamers, the biggest concern is whether the acquisition will interrupt their streams or force them to replace their current tools. According to StreamElements, that is not happening. The service will continue operating as a standalone platform through a Razer subsidiary, with its brand, team, products, and mission remaining in place.

Razer also says it does not plan to absorb StreamElements into its existing software. StreamElements will continue operating independently, and the existing team will remain focused on the platform’s current roadmap. Streamers should not see an immediate change in how they use the service during their regular broadcasts.

Your Overlays, Alerts, and Chatbot Should Keep Working

StreamElements says its core streaming tools will continue without interruption. This includes overlays, on-stream alerts, chatbot features, tipping pages, SE.Live, sponsorships, and related creator services. Streamers should not need to rebuild their overlays or transfer their channel setup to a different provider.

Support for outside broadcasting software is also staying in place. Integrations with OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, XSplit, and other streaming programs are expected to work as they did before the acquisition. StreamElements also says its platform integrations remain active across Twitch, YouTube, Kick, and other supported services.

There is one strange detail in the official FAQ. The question asks whether StreamElements will continue working with Twitch, YouTube, Kick, and TikTok, but the answer lists Twitch, YouTube, Kick, and X. This may be a wording mistake, but the FAQ does not clearly explain why TikTok was replaced by X in the answer.

Accounts and Login Details Are Staying the Same

Streamers do not need to move their accounts to a new Razer or StreamElements system at this time. Existing settings, overlays, account history, email addresses, passwords, and connected social logins are expected to remain unchanged. That means streamers should still be able to sign in and manage their channels through the same StreamElements account.

StreamElements has updated its Privacy Policy to reflect Razer’s ownership. The revised policy took effect on August 1, 2026, and users are being asked to accept it to maintain access to SE LiveTools without interruption. StreamElements says it will provide notice if future changes affect how creator data is handled.

Customer support will also remain with the current StreamElements support team. Streamers who run into problems can continue using the existing StreamElements support system rather than contacting Razer’s hardware support department.

SEPay Users Have a Deadline

The largest immediate change involves SEPay. Streamers with money stored in an existing SEPay balance can withdraw those funds through December 31, 2026. Anyone who wants to continue receiving tips through StreamElements will need to connect a PayPal account to their profile.

This means tipping is still available, but the payment setup is changing for creators who previously depended on SEPay. Razer’s announcement says tipping remains active, while the StreamElements FAQ adds that creators must connect PayPal for future tips. Streamers with an SEPay balance should check their account and withdraw the money before the deadline.

Razer also says part of the acquisition payment was reserved for outstanding money owed to creators before the deal closed. Live Momentum Ltd. remains responsible for debts and other obligations created before the acquisition. The companies did not disclose how much money was reserved or how many creators were waiting for payments.

Sponsorships Will Continue

Current sponsorships and creator campaigns are expected to continue. StreamElements says new sponsorship opportunities will also be added to the platform, though no schedule or list of future campaigns has been announced.

Streamers will not need to own Razer equipment to use StreamElements or participate in its regular creator programs. Razer-related offers such as hardware discounts, Chroma integrations, bounty campaigns, and affiliate programs will be optional. The platform will remain open to creators using equipment from other brands.

What Razer May Add in the Future

Razer plans to explore deeper links between StreamElements and its existing creator programs. Possible integrations include Razer Chroma RGB, Razer Gold and Silver, Razer ID, hardware offers, creator rewards, sponsorships, and bounty campaigns. These ideas have been discussed publicly, but many have not been confirmed as finished features.

One feature being explored could connect livestream events to Razer Chroma lighting. A follow, subscription, tip, donation, or raid could trigger lighting effects through compatible Razer devices. This could give streamers another way to connect alerts with the lighting used in their streaming rooms.

Razer could also connect StreamElements users with its wider creator program. Razer says its creator program already includes perks, staff access, and bounty campaigns that reward creators for producing content. Owning StreamElements gives Razer a direct connection to streamers through both streaming software and creator partnerships.

Why This Acquisition Matters

StreamElements is more than a collection of overlays. Many streamers use it as a central part of their broadcasts, handling alerts, moderation, tips, sponsorships, loyalty systems, and audience interaction through the same platform. A shutdown or major service interruption would have forced many creators to rebuild parts of their channels.

Razer’s purchase appears to give StreamElements a clearer path to continue operating. Razer gains a major streaming platform that fits beside its microphones, keyboards, mice, capture devices, lighting products, and creator programs. StreamElements gains the financial and business support of a larger gaming company.

Still, several questions remain unanswered. Neither company has disclosed the purchase price, future pricing plans, long-term changes to free services, staffing details, or the full extent of future data sharing between StreamElements and Razer. There is also no confirmed release schedule for Chroma support or other planned integrations.

For now, streamers do not need to replace their StreamElements setup. Their overlays, alerts, chatbot, logins, sponsorships, and streaming integrations should continue working. The main actions users should take are accepting the updated Privacy Policy, connecting PayPal for future tips, and withdrawing any SEPay balance before December 31, 2026.

The acquisition may bring new creator programs and streaming features, but most of those plans are still being discussed. Streamers should treat promises of deeper Razer integration as future possibilities rather than features that are already available. For the moment, the clearest result of the deal is that StreamElements is staying online under new ownership.
