The God of War Laufey delay is official. Santa Monica Studio has announced that its upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive will now launch on May 20, 2027, instead of February 16, 2027. The decision pushes the release back by just over three months.
The developer confirmed the change on November 4, explaining that the team needs additional time to finish polishing the game. Although the announcement may disappoint players who were expecting to begin Fayeโs adventure in February, the studio says it intends to make the most of the extra development time.
The announcement also raises a few questions about the gameโs release plans, existing preorders, and what players can expect from this new chapter in the God of War series.

In its announcement, the developer explained that it would use the additional time for โputting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.โ
